How many rooms are there, and are the rooms private or semi-private?

Garden Place is a community for 19 residents. We have 3 private rooms, and can accommodate 16 residents in rooms of 2.

Are you Medicaid certified?

Garden Place has 8 beds that are designated for residents who qualify for Medicaid.

What is the staff ratio?

Garden Place is staffed by one Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse 24-hours a day. In addition, there are generally 3 Licensed Nurses Assistants on the floor, and an activities staff during the busy times of the day. The Director of Nurses is also present during business hours and available on-call.

What are the visiting hours?

Garden Place is a 24-hour a day community. We only ask that visiting is within reason and respects the other members of our community.

Can I take my loved one out for a visit/trip? What about overnight?

Certainly!� It is our mission for our residents to live an active and engaged live. We welcome the opportunity for them to participate in their lives as they had done at home.

Is there an Alzheimer's Care/locked Dementia Unit?

While Garden Place is not a unit specifically for residents with Alzheimer's disease or dementia, we believe our intimate community is the right size to be engaging and yet not over-stimulating. Our low resident to staff ratio and calm residential setting provides the opportunity for residents with dementia to thrive. Doors to the unit are alarmed for the safety of residents who wander and could be at risk for elopment.

Do you provide local transportation for appointments and outings?

Yes, we arrange transportation for scheduled appointments and off-site programs. The Wentworth Connections Senior Transportation Program is also available to our residents for unscheduled trips and errands.

Do I keep my local physician?

Yes, you may. However, if you are from out of state we will suggest some local physicians to you. We are located near Portsmouth Regional Hospital and are within close proximity to York Hospital in Maine. In Garden Place, your physician will see you on-site. Should you need to see a specialist in the area will assist you with arranging transportation.

Do I bring my own furnishings?

All rooms in Garden Place are fully furnished and linens are provided. However, we do encourage you to bring as many items as possible to make your room feel like home - such as pictures, artwork or a favorite chair, for example.
