Seacoast Businesses Collaborate on Series for Seniors and Their Families

Fifteen local businesses have combined efforts to create a series of 6 free presentations titled Navigating the Aging Maze: A Familys Journey Through the Process.Gretchen Poehlman, Director of Marketing & Sales at The Mark Wentworth Home, and Kate Gabriel, Community Liaison for Home Instead Senior Care recognized the desire in the community for knowledge on the resources and information available for families when faced with what often turns into a crisis in aging.Together, Kate and Gretchen were able to identify a group of Seacoast professionals whose goal is to present solutions to a number of issues families often face. These solutions will be presented with the help of a composite family, named The Grays and broken into a series of 6 educational sessions, open to the public.

The sessions will be held on Wednesday evenings from 6 PM to 7 PM at the Portsmouth Public Library starting on September 23.The program is designed to allow Seacoast seniors and their families to find commonalities between their current situations and those posed to a typical family with aging family members. Each of the 6 sessions will follow a progression often faced by baby boomers and their adult children, and will be an open forum for questions and answers.
